Schulman Bhattacharya In The News: Law Firm Halts Sale Of White Flint Mall Property

Apr 30

Schulman Bhattacharya, LLC commenced a lawsuit against a trust controlled by Washington Nationals owner Ted Lerner and the family of real estate developer Sonny Abramson to block the sale of the former White Flint Mall property in Rockville, Maryland. According to the complaint filed by the Firm, the threatened sale represents a material breach of the fiduciary duties of the controlling members of the Maryland Limited Liability Company that owns the White Flint property. After obtaining an emergency court order requiring the deposition of Mr. Lerner and three other senior executives, and the immediate turnover of all relevant business records, including those pertaining to a potential deal with Amazon to make the White Flint property the site of its HQ2 second headquarters campus, a consent order was entered temporarily halting the proposed transaction and shifting the case to arbitration.
