Schulman Bhattacharya, LLC is proud to announce the hiring of two new attorneys who will be resident in the Firm’s Washington-area headquarters office. Jamie Karson joins the firm as Of Counsel. Jake Schaller arrives as an Associate.
Jamie Karson is the former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Steve Madden Ltd. (NASDAQ: “SHOO”), one of the most iconic footwear brands in the world. During his tenure at the helm of Steve Madden, the company’s market capitalization reached $1 billion. He was named to the HVS list of Top Ten Retail CEOs in America, six times named to Footwear News’ 100 Most Influential People in Footwear, and under his leadership Steve Madden was twice named “Footwear Company of the Year.” Jamie also served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Thinkpink, LLC, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Original Soupman, and Chief Operating Officer of Shoptiques, Inc. Jamie is former Special Counsel at the Dentons and McCarter & English law firms and has vast experience overseeing a wide range of complex corporate transactions as both an elite lawyer and high profile business executive.
Jake Schaller joins the Firm after practicing as a commercial litigator for six years at a large Maryland-based law firm. Jake has represented a broad-based group of clients, taking cases through all stages of the dispute resolution process. His numerous corporate and individual clients have praised his responsiveness, poise under pressure, and ability to distill complicated issues quickly, while keeping them focused on their ultimate goals. Jake graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Prior to attending law school, Jake was an award-winning sports journalist for several publications including The Washington Post and The Colorado Springs Gazette.
